I have always been a fan of Azzedine Alaïa’’s work and this collection, presented almost a month later of Paris Fashion Week shows he’s still working at his own pace. Alaïa made clear he opted to present his collection much later than everybody else in Europe simply because his clothes can’t be made with a stopwatch. “I took the time necessary to create them,” was his very own words to WWD.com. A mentalite that is a mile away from ,say, Olivier Rousteing or Marc Jacobs’ one.
Alaïa is a fan of quiet yer powerful presence and this show was no exception. There where a sense of parisian chic that many brands lack,a triumph of couture over hype.Body con dresses and black capes coexisted with ruffles and bold graphic details in bright color paired with mannish tailoring -And still, everything where masterly orchestrated to a unanimous harmony, one bright look after another.Simply, purely, excellent clothes. And that is something few designers can claim of achieving.
