Let me put it that straight.I have argued long ago that Raf Simons wasn’t the best possible choice for the creative direction of the House of Dior simply because he didn’t seem to possess sufficient design qualities to follow Galliano’s great legacy.Alas, how true was that!In Christian Dior’s Fall 2014 collection, an almost childish ”deconstruction” of the House’s iconic pieces such as tailored jackets and coats,”baptizing them as ”new” just by presenting them in bright colors.Ill-fitted tuxedo’s in all possible colors coexisted with structured dresses that slightly brought in mind fragments of the initial Dior dna. Still, there were several moments to thing WTF was Mr Simon’s into when presenting floating dresses adorned with shoelaces and tuxedo’s as shapeless’ mini dresses? i may keep the accessories such as long gloves and cute shoes, but the clothes looked ”cheap” beyond words. How sad was to see all that legacy currently lost in ”translation”..The faster they realize back there at Dior that Mr Simons is unable to recreate the allure and luxury of the House, the less the cost. Sad,indeed.
