I do like David Koma’s work.He is designing outfits that define the female silhouette, embellished gowns that somehow don’t ”look” heavy but ooze modern chic-his fashion language is straightforward, without pretension. He locates his inspiration to the works of Geoffrey Beene and Thierry Mugler, devoting his constant research for new techniques and material to the overall concept of a body-conscious fashion that showcases the female element through elaborate, sculptural pieces. His Spring/Summer 2014 collection bears no exception of the above, and captures the eye.
David Koma will present his SS2014 collection as part of ”London show Rooms” event, taking place in Los Angeles from 6 November 2013 onwards . The event aims to ‘‘take London’s brightest stars of British fashion to Los Angeles, building on the success of LONDON show ROOMS in Paris and New York. This initiative aims to develop the profile and business opportunities for these designers in international markets. West Coast buyers, stylists and press will have the opportunity to meet designers and view the collections in a unique environment.” I dare say that David Koma’s body-celebrating work will work well with the whole L.A. body conscious culture-for a man that has already dressed Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga, this venture appears an easy task!
