The Solid Valentino Definition of Haute Couture

Having been involved into more.. political issues this week (being a Greek, that seems inevitable..),i feel kind of guilty for not referring to certain key collections this Paris Fashion Week has had to offer.Valentino Couture collection is by no question, one of the them.Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli claim they had an initial vision of a ”cabinet of curiosities”,still curiosities in the sense of the unexpected can end as successful or just ”curiosities”.In the case of Valentino ended in good old Haute Couture.Don’t get me wrong,i also found the color palette a bit boring and  the whole collection a bit challenging in the sense of creating a rich looking daywear that could feel dated.Yet there were several pieces that were brilliantly designed. As for materials,laser-cut black astrakhan, lace, cashmere even a gown with a  train s stitched with 2,200 river pearls and gold thread, all scream ”rich clientele!”.But inst couture made exactly for this?Certain byzantine references mixed with the Valentino staples created a collection that spoke silently yet in a loud voice, elegance. And that can be considered a success. As for the black dresses-i’d die for one even myself!
