“Too many photographers try too hard. They try to lift photography into the realm of Art, because they have an inferiority complex about their Craft. You and I would see more interesting photography if they would stop worrying, and instead, apply horse-sense to the problem of recording the look and feel of their own era.”
[Jessie Tarbox Beals (1870-1942), U.S. photographer. Quoted in PM (New York, April 1941).

I agree with you. I shoot what I see and process the way I like. When photography starts turning into work I will lose interest.
i couldnr agree more, even though i must not express opinion, being a Fashion Editor and not into the creative process of photography.

As a beginning photographer, I’m learning not only the terminology but the history of photography as well. It is those compelling images of the past that are driving me to think more about composition, siginificance of color and the ability to tell a story. For me, a photograph that can visually create a storyline with dynamic characters is triumphant!
”It’s not about being great, it’s about creating great things”
This is such an interesting quote!
